Walnut extension table
45" W x 48" L (72" L or 96 " L) x 30"H
I've had a hard time getting good pictures of this table, but here are a couple of the better ones. I built this extension table in Walnut. These book-matched boards (shown here with one of two leaves installed) are from the top of the tree, 20' high, where the first big branches spilt the trunk into several directions.
The leaves are book-matched as well, but from a different tree. Solid heartwood from deep in the wide trunk of the tree. The third leg in the center of the table provides stability even when the table is opened to 8 feet long.
I built the extension mechanism from walnut and ball bearing drawer slides, with hard maple guides. They seem to work fine, and they are a lot more elegant than the factory made hardware.
